The Inner Game of the Trusted Advisor –
How do we set ourselves up for our best collaboration with our clients and our peers?
A trusted advisor’s relationship with the beneficiary or client may need to align on different valences. For example, one set of valences is to relate as peer-to-peer, parent/child, or parent/teenager.
Because the trusted advisor is often more comfortable in one role than another, what do we need to be aware of to timely pivot into the appropriate role?
In addition, what are the advantages - and the dangers - of our own filters and biases?
Finally, how does this impact our relationship with potential clients?
