Allen Siegel,MD, is a native Chicagoan, medically trained at the University of Illinois, School of Medicine.  He did an internship in internal medicine, as well as a residency in psychiatry, at MIchael Reese Hospital.  Later, after his return from US Naval Hospital, San Diego, during the time of Vietnam where he helped repair our emotionally wounded sailors and Marines, he began his psychoanalytic studies at the Chicago Institute for Psychoanalysis.  He is a Council Member of the International Association for Psychoanalytic Self Psychology.  Dr Siegel authored the well received book, Heinz Kohut and the Psychology of the Self as well as of papers and articles on both individual treatment and family business matters.  He teaches and lectures in the US and abroad and currently is establishing a school for psychotherapy in Ankara, Turkey and will soon teach online in China.


Dr Siegel is a student of human behavior as it expresses itself in multiple venues.  His private practice interests and experience, in addition to individual and couples treatment, include work as the Family Business Doctor, where he helps family businesses, and their advisers, untie the emotional knots that limit the performance and enjoyment of family business.
